IDEAL TIME TO VISIT

Choose the main trekking seasons for the Khumbu.

March to May and October to December are the key periods for this Everest Base Camp journey. Conditions vary with altitude and weather, so trekking schedules and flight operations remain subject to local conditions.

  • Spring brings longer days and generally favourable trekking conditions
  • Autumn is a major trekking season with clear mountain views often possible
  • Winter months can bring colder conditions and route disruption at altitude
  • Lukla flights and mountain routes remain weather dependent

IMPORTANT TO KNOW

High-altitude trekking requires preparation and flexibility.

The Everest Base Camp route reaches significant altitude and involves sustained trekking days. Acclimatisation, weather, trail conditions and mountain-flight operations can affect the final schedule.

Altitude & acclimatisation

Altitude affects travellers differently. The itinerary includes acclimatisation in the Khumbu; follow local guidance and allow the route to be adjusted when necessary.

Weather & mountain flights

Flights to Lukla and helicopter operations are weather dependent. Delays or schedule changes can occur, so the final operating plan remains flexible.
